Willy Cupcakes

Had a great order for cupcakes with willy sprinkles this week, I do love doing something different and these sprinkles did make me chuckle! Aren't they great?!

Here's a close up of the willies!

Amusing conversation with the kids too -
"Mum, what are you doing?"
"Putting willies on cakes"!

Also did a sweet Bob the Builder cake today, I really enjoy painting onto cakes. I can only do simple images as I'm not much of an artist!!

Turned out pretty good and luckily still had some toy tools tucked away in a drawer to liven it up a bit :)

Doll's House cake

I can't believe my baby girl is going to be 9 tomorrow, where has the time gone? My cute little ones are now displaying ominous signs of impending hormones, especially my eldest who is approaching 13, oh to be back in the days of playdough and giggles.

Anyway, to celebrate the youngest's birthday, I have been busy making her cake which this year is a Doll's House. A friend recently gave Jess a huge doll's house so we have been having fun stripping wallpaper, painting and helping ourselves to wallpaper samples from Homebase!

I've never made a cake like this before so, as always, the next time I do something similar it will come out much better! Quite pleased with the overall effect although it has sagged slightly at the back due to the weight, oops...

I had such fun making the little veggie beds, the "earth" is brown sugar!

So, back to party prep, we have the family coming round so making sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche etc, another busy day!!

NetMums

I recently became introduced to netmums which is a great website for parents covering everything from food, parties and things to do in your local area as well as pregnancy and parenting information and advice.

After a recommendation from a facepainter friend, I decided to add a free listing to this site for my business and had my first order from a local mum the other day! So definitely well worth getting your name out there. This is my listing on netmums

Talking of my friend Jo who is a brilliant face painter, I've been busy making her a website over the last few weeks, please check her out - she is great with children especially, but caters for all ages with face paint, glam hair and nails, and fake tattoos! She is also trained in casualty make-up, gory but fabulous fun :)

You can see her new website here,  I love the name Pippibelle!!

In other news, I'm thinking of expanding the BakerLou website to include various teatime treats from un-iced cakes such as Victoria Sponge to goodies like flapjacks and cheesecakes. My dark chocolate cheesecake is always very popular!

Yum!!

Summer Holidays!

Looks like it's going to be a long summer! As I used to be a childminder, I find it very hard to break the habit of playing silly games with every child that knocks on the door. Every day of the holidays I seem to end up with at least three other kids in the house plus my own two, so as you can imagine I'm not getting much done!!

I'm working on a few orders at the moment, definitely not enjoying a hot kitchen in this current little heatwave - the kids' paddling pool keeps looking at me longingly...

So, when I get the chance to kick the children off the computer, I've been getting some of the admin done, building up the website and designing leaflets etc. Still so much to do before I can officially launch the new website, I really want it to be perfect and let the customer build exactly how they want their cakes, so bear with me!

As I want to provide customers with the option of a free gift card with their order, I decided that a postcard would be nice in a plain envelope with space for me to write their message, what do you think?

I decided to keep everything matching and this goes perfectly with my business cards:

I really love the black lettering on the canvas effect background, simple but effective.

I hope everyone has a great summer and that the kids don't drive you too crazy xx
